Making a Template System

Hello There,

I was wondering what makes a "good" template system?

Im developing a product which I hope to be able to sell with licenses, and I understand that having a good template system is critical for success as everyone doesnt want there sites looking the same, they want customization.

What kind of things and implemenation needs to be done to make a good template system?

Also, does anyone know of any good way of verify licences and making sure only sites with valid licenses can run properly?

Do you mean a template for your web site or the product application?

If you're talking about an online "members area" or "owners area" then I would say make your template simple, easy to use, and fast loading. Skip bloated graphics, as these will just slow things down for the user. Good consistant, easy to follow navigation is a must as well.
