which makes a better color?

Are light coloured web pages more appealing
than dark colors? Or maybe it varies?

I personally prefer, if I had to choose one, light-colored pages. But the best page will use a mix of a few solid colors that are memorable yet look good.

Supposedly blue makes people remember. Red makes people mad, and green makes people happy. I'm not sure about those, but it seems fairly sensible.

I've heard that most shades of blue are great for use on a web page...and that red can hurt a site's usability...but I only partially buy that.

I think blue is definetly more attractive to the idea, but any color scheme can work...

Color should depend on what kind of message you want to give. If you want to make it look like Halloween, use black and orange.

If you don't want to frighten your visitor, shades of blue go well with white, black, and gray.

If you want your visitor to be relaxed, try pastel colors.

Those colors do seem reasonable
ie red makes people mad
However, that is a very westernised approach - we must remember that the web is global therefore in China red stands for communism
as a rule dark text on a light background is easier to read that light text on a dark background
