    MIllionDollarHomeapge 2.0

    Have you heard about it?

He is going to have a competition and charge $2 per pixel and one of the advertisers would earn 1 million and Alex would remain with 1 million again.

    Can he pull this off?

Personally this idea sounds horrible. By getting visitors to click on links they have no interest in, it will just create junk traffic - I wouldn't be surprised if impression based ad networks ban sites that appear on there.

That's his new site btw: http://www.pixelotto.com/

he has made $128,000 for himself already. And that is in less than 10 days.

I would call the site a success.

    A success for him? Sure...

Does it add anything useful to the Internet? No...

I agree with tke71709. It is not beneficial to advertisers in any way. There is a good reason why big advertising networks try to prevent and restrict junk traffic.

It seems like a bad idea, but he's making a ton of money with that idea ... hmm

The pet rock seems like a bad idea to me but that made a fortune too.

Never underestimate the stupidity of people.

Yes, it's a bad idea for anyone other than him, it adds nothing of value to the internet, and it only lasts as long as the hype he can build. But I bought a block anyway. Newbie website owners that think this is a good way to market (but don't have $200 so are just visitors to the site) are my market after all.

The main difference is this time the clicks are incentivized by the contest. With equal or even less traffic to the original Million Dollar Homepage there may be more click throughs to the advertisers. Every person that's serious about the contest would have to click every advertisement at least once to guarantee entry into the drawing (since an ad is chosen as the winning ad, then a member that clicked that ad as the winning member for the prize).

True... but this lotto is supposed to keep going on. I might just wait and see how this one pans out and maybe jump in on the second one. Let us know if you see an increase in traffic/earnings : )

It's only been a couple hours since my ad was approved and put on the site, and it's received 67 clicks and made 1 sale.
