Javascript is a client side scripting language (it does have server side implementation but we won't get into that)

XML is a process of defining your data for display. It isn't a scripting language as far as I know. I am not an XML user so I can't give a detailed description.

Examples of server sided languages are php, asp, jsp, perl and others.

VBscript is microsofts answer to javascript for a client side language

As far as I know, Javascript is both client and server side though you probably rarely will encounter someone using javascript as server-side since there are many way more efficient way to treat data on the server...

Javascript, of course is widely known for it's client-side uses.

XML I believe is only a client side technology. As soon as you interact with the server using XML, you're actually working with another technology (such as php, asp, or jsp) or databases.

Please correct me somebody if I'm wrong.

    XML is client-side or server-side, although it's primarily server-side.
