    Encrypt PHP Source Code?

Just wondering if its possible to encrypt PHP source code similar to ASP or Cold Fusion?

Considering developing an application in PHP and would have classes do the bulk of the work, but I would like the source code portion of those classes to be encrypted.

I've seen this done in ASP applications where something like a 'Global_Classes.asp' page is included at the top of each page. Within a given page instances of the classe(s) are created and used. If you were to look at the source of the class include, however, you would see documentation on what properties and methods are exposed and how to implement it, but the actual class code would be lines of random text.

This is a large project and I am still exploring all my options, but I know this is almost a given requirement for the people paying the bills.

I believe there's some Zend product which compiles PHP code, and it costs money, of course. But I also believe there is a free trial.
