Talking Alex Tew's MillionDollarHomePage 2: Pixelotto

Anybody else get the email from Alex Tew just now?

I just reserved the very first spot on the top left of his new homepage.

The site is not up yet but the domain is www.pixelotto.com

    Hi

I have some very exciting news I'd like to share with you.

Next week, on 5th December, I am launching a new venture called 'Pixelotto'.
It's similar to The Million Dollar Homepage only this time I will be giving
    away $1,000,000!

It's all based around pixel advertising and generating big traffic for
advertisers. Visitors play for free - all they have to do is click on the
ads for chances to win the jackpot. The more they click, the more chances
they have - and the more traffic you receive.

As a valued customer of The Million Dollar Homepage, I'd like to give you an
exclusive opportunity to purchase advertising space on Pixelotto before the
site goes public. The world will be watching next week and this is your
chance to get on-board before everyone else.

The following link will give you exclusive access to Pixelotto, where you
can buy ad space right now:

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx

If you have any questions don't hesitate to e-mail me and my team at
    info@pixelotto.com

I look forward to welcoming you on-board for this new pixel adventure!

    Cheers,

    Alex Tew

I've created a website with the first screenshots and information at:
    http://www.squidoo.com/pixelotto/

It seems he already sold $20k of pixels, and the site isn't open yet. Yes, it's another success...

I emailed asking if I could buy ad space and got the reply "If you are not an MDHP advertiser, please wait until next Tuesday when the site goes public - then you will be able to make an order."

It will be very interesting to see how fast spots sell starting next Tuesday. I expect a big turnout and lots of sales. I think if you are one of the first in on Tuesday you'll have a really good shot at a good spot. There is still a lot of space towards the top left.

Unbelievable, truly unbelievable. I just read about this over at TechCrunch.com, and now people here are bidding on it. Maybe I'll start the Billion Dollar website. 1000 pixels wide by 1,000,000 pixels tall. Anyone want to buy my first pixel?

He's generating a bunch of irrelevant traffic for his advertisers. Tew's a genius. Anyone who advertises on there and expects to see profit is not.

Once I heared: its not traffic that matters but conversion rate. Well, Good luck to guys who spend on advertisement.

Tew is genius, he will get much of fame again, a good coverage from media and yes, another PR7 domain name.

Though he wont get money, but other things does matter too.

By the way, i am thinking of the guys going there and clickin ads.

I had some success with the last site. I got in after it had sold quite a few though so I didn't get as good of a spot.

This time around I got the very top left 10x10 spot with the #1 on it, and also the big red crown a few over to the right.

Exactly, unless you're running an arcade site or something like that where quality of traffic is irrelevant anyway.

It could be an interesting way to get traffic to an MFA site as well I suppose, but most people are going to click to the site, and hit their back button right away so they'll never see an ad.

I'd be interested to know if he has all the necessary lottery licenses to run this business in the first place.

I don't think lottery licenses are needed. There is no purchase necessary.

I'm sure he checked into all that though because a million dollar prize is sure to turn some legal heads..

Maybe the laws in the UK are more lenient on lotteries than in the US.

Just as i was starting to forget about these annoying websites, it's only a matter of time before they start popping up again.

I must say, i am quite disappointed in this guys new project. I remember him posting something on his blog about his "exciting new project" that everyone should look out for. Well... as far as i am concerned it's exactly the same.

hmmm.... According to the Lottery and Amusements Act 1976

    a) charitable purposes;
    b) participation in or support of athletic sports or cultural activities;

    "private gain"...?

I wonder if Lastminute.com will ever obtain $23,500 worth of value from their block of 20 ad units? I guess if they spent that sort of money advertising on TV it would be a drop in the ocean.
