    conditional comment question

    can anyone tell me what is wrong with this as a CC?
    Code:
    <!--[if lte IE 5.5]>
    <style type="text/css">
    #tab {display: none;}
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
    I set the display to 'none' just to test if the CC was working and it's not. #tab still displays. So what am I doing wrong (or wrong for for IE 5.5)?

    Are you using the standalone version ?
    If you do, did you modify a key in the registry to repair the conditional comments ?

    yes the standalone version

    I hadn't modified it to work with conditional comments, but now I have, and it still doesn't work (I've edited my original post to the most recent code since I changed the conditional comment for 5.5). Is the syntax fine? is it another problem with stand alones?

    found the answer

    i was not naming the browser version correctly in my conditional comment. it should have read this:

    Code:
    <!--[if lte IE 5.5000]>
    <style type="text/css">
    #tab {display: none;}
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
    Now my conditional comment works prefectly!

    thanks for the pointer in the right direction!
