    CSS Popup "Searching"

I'm sure I've seen this somewhere...

If I have a long-running qeury, it would be helpful to popup a "Searching" box at the start of the query processing and remove it when displaying the results. So no user-interaction, once they've pressed [Search]

Ideally, this would be entirely CSS-based (with a sprinkle perhaps of js), possibly similar to Lightbox.

Any ideas how to implement this?

    Sounds like AJAX..

That's not a sprinkle of js that's all javascript.
It would require setting the display property of the popup when you start the search, and once AJAX has returned a result then you could hide it again and display the content -
setting style.display = "block" to show or "none" to hide the "searching" popup.
