What functionality do u want in that news script?
Won't it be acheived with a blog software like WordPress, full CMS like Joomla/Drupal, or discussion board like phpBB?

Yep, WordPress community has developed a lot of mods for it. So most likely, after searching for the right mods, it will suite you needs.

You're going to need a news management system. I'd normally recommend phpNewsManager, but Security Focus issued a warning that phpNewsManager is vulnerable to SQL injection attacks back in May. It's now December, and there's STILL no word on whether it was fixed or not.

I asked a similar question back in October, but still haven't gotten a response. I think our combined best bet will be to search www.krugle.com (under projects - you do NOT need to create an account to search there, but it might help) to find something that meets our needs.
