    3D animation in Flash

    Hello,

I know that in order to animate a 3D object in flash, a special coding process is needed.
So anyone knows what this code is or can direct me to a really excellent reference, tutorial, book, website...etc. that could tell me the How-Tos??

    thank you

if you're looking to explore 3D - then you'd have to look at using the z-axis. it's quite a challenge if you're new to scripting, but nothing that reading a few books won't solve

you might also want to try:
    www.were-here.com
    www.actionscripts.org
    www.flash-group.com/board

i have a good friend who's into things like this, you might want to ask him if you have a question: 'reset' - our actionscripting guru

    take care + good luck,

There is two ways of doing this (and possibly more!!) that I am aware of...

Basically you can use a tool like Swift 3D to 'render out' vector artwork, instead of bitmaps. This creates fairly largeish files, but the rendering opions are great (my main interface was down this way). It also allows you to import eps files, which is great!

Or, as mentioned, you can get really clever and actually Actionscript the 3D... I have to warn you though that this gets into VERY heavy maths, but produces very small files!

You will find comprehensive 3D Flash specific information here:

    Hi there,

Go to www.erain.com and look at Swift 3D. It does very respectable 3D vector animations, then outputs a .swf that you import into your Flash file as a series of keyframes. I just got it yesterday and am extremely excited-I believe it will be well worth the money to have real 3D in my Flash works!
