Hi all.
I run hiphopmusic.co.uk and I am just about to start designing the new version. On the front page summary, I want to have a bit with a quote from our forums.
I want my forum moderator to be able to do this himself, so I had this idea.
If I set up all the html of the table it is in etc, could I then just do a ssi call calling another html file which just includes the text of the quote?......
If you understood what I meant by that, please tell me if that would be possible, and how it would affect loading times considering that I already have SSI calling my tracking system......
Thankyou
James

The effect should be negligible, unless your Webserver is slower than the fastest connection it supports and even a 486 is faster than the fastest connection currently available.

Web servers are extremely optimized to read and output files, and that is just what SSI is. There will be unnoticeable difference, even on a 386 (probably)!
SSI is quite helpful, too.
