Paypal "Taxes"
Hey I had a quick question for you guys. You know how when someone pays you on Paypal for whatever and they pay using a credit card how paypal takes about a 5% cut from it. If you are getting payed say $200 for a project should you ask the client to send $210 to make up for the fees or is that not right.
Thanks.

I don't do it. To me the 3% is bargain to get someone's commital and cash right away as opposed to waiting for a cheque that's "in the mail". If you give your customers other payment options then it may be acceptable. I ordered the game Ashen Empires recently and they use www.paybycash.com who offer 40 different payment options and add their fees to the price so you get 100% of your retail price,

In general it is the merchant's reponsibility to cover any payment acceptance fees.
The only time I've seen this is some wholesale distributors who only do business with retail businesses sometimes charge a 2-3% fee for processing your credit card. In general when they do this you can assume they have really thin margins.Chris Beasley - I publish content and ecommerce sites.

Also remember, you might be in violation of your credit card's service policy or a state law for charging more to accept a credit card as payment.

I don't have a credit card myself.
