    Question about an old exploit...

    I remember a few years ago my CD-ROM drive opened as a result of visiting some website. Apparently it was because of a glitch in IE or something like that. I'm curious to know if it was javascript that did that?

    By itself, JavaScript has no access to hardware at that level, but through ActiveX it might be possible.

    Thanks for the response,

    You are right, I think it was an ActiveX expolit. This rang a bell in my mind. It was used in most of those "anti spyware" sites back in the day, and is probably still used, but the modern IE is not affected.
