    Input type="text" with a backgound image

    So far I've been using
    Code:
    <TD name="refVal" WIDTH="129" HEIGHT="43" BACKGROUND="Button_Small_CroppedWeb.bmp" VALIGN="center" ALIGN="center" rowspan=1 value="">
    <FONT SIZE="+1" COLOR="Black">Label Text</FONT></TD>
    for my custom Input type="text" with a background image. But I ran into trouble when I wanted to set the value of the Input type="text" dynamically. I tried innerHTML but it didn't work. Then I tried to use an <input type="text"> and set the value of that. It worked but there was a white rectangle displayed on top of my background image.

    I only want the text to be displayed on top of my background image in my custom Input type="text". Is this possible?

    /Lars
