Thanks - I've got that working and its very interesting. It uses javascript in the 'password entry' & 'target pages' AND also some javascript 'cookie' stuff in another page AND an external javascript file called 'jslibrary.js' which all work together to make it happen.
However, is it the common way to do password stuff? Is it not CGI/server side stuff? If so, does anyone know how to do that - or know of a source/tutorial?
No, JavaScript is probably not the normal way to do it, but if you don't have access to CGI then it is the next best thing. Check out this site for some CGI resources:
If you ever want to know about any web-related subject, use a search engine! There are lots of tutorials on web-related topics out there, for obvious reasons. http://www.ask.com is good, as well as http://www.google.com, and the old reliable http://www.altavista.com, which indexes almost everything.
I have found that HotBot, which is reported to have the largest database of any search engine available (40% of the Internet), provides some of the best results when looking for technical information.
