    Question Forum Badges

    Hi guys,

Do you think having forum badges (like SP has) will encourage forum users (new/regular) to post topics, etc...?

Also, would it be best to point it out in the FORUM NEWS section by showing each badge, etc..? or, have them guessing?

I think it would be a great idea, I currently do the same, but I would definitely point it out to them. If thy know its there they will have more incentive to try to get it. The mystery factor wouldn't help much.

You can also have a contest for your users to design the badges then have them vote on which they like the best..

It will get them more interested in the outcome.

Sounds like a good idea, also try the way SP has it where after say 600 the icons change color to a more attractive one.

I have check them out within the "News" section. plus, I've also done a ranking system aswell.

as for a contest, thats not a bad idea. when more people become members, I'll give it a shot.

Something like the "pips" is a great idea. Along with custom titles, it provides something for new users to shoot for. As long as you crack down on spammers and discourage fluff posting.

I remember when I first started at SPF I couldn't wait for my pips to turn orange. I'm sure having that goal motivated me to search out the hot tiopics during slow weeks when I was new here.

must admit, when I first started SPF I was too wanted too post loads of topics, etc just to get more arrows and the fact you could change the title.

If anyone likes the badges I've done and would like a copy (a zip'd psd file) pm me with your email address
