    CHMOD directory issues

    Hi,

    I have a few problems.

First of all, I am creating a users folder with subfolders for each user. What should I chmod the folders to so that I can read text from them and write text to them through PHP, but no one can look in the folders through a web browser?

    Also,

For some reason, I can't even access the folders now. I can't delete them through PHP, Telnet, or FTP.

    Please Help!

    Thanks
    Jim

Try this: (I am not sure whether this is the problem)

Do you have a message board, counter or any other script on your server that generates files? Have you ever tried to manually edit one of these files? You may have noticed that you can't because you don't own the file - user:nobody owns the file and you can't edit it!
