Angry My Domain name being used in Spam :(

Hi there. I think this is the correct place to post this.

Recently my junk mail has been filling up with "Message Retured" or "Your e-mail to ***@*** cannot be delivered" emails.

I havent sent these emails, and the domain name who they are supposedly being sent from has absoluty nothing on it, so it cant be coming from a script on my site.

The sender details are always random letter and numbers @mydomain.name
So someone (or bot) somewhere is sending their spam from email forms and using my domain name as the senders address.

Is there anyway of stopping this?
Would I get into trouble from the spam police because its my domain name in the emails??

    help!

It's called a Joe Job. There is nothing you can do about in unfortunately other then wait it out. Fortunately it is obvious that this is not your doing and you won't be hurt from it.

Also, since you really can't stop them from using your domain name, you can stop those emails from showing up in your mailbox. Change your default mail account to fail for any email address that doesn't exist for your domain. That way, you won't get a bunch of emails coming back that were apparently sent by 142453@yourdomain.com.

Right, or if you have on global email forwards you turn them off so you do not receive the bounce backs.
