Chrono Trigger - YES YES YES! Absolutely the greatest!

    FFIX
    Grandia

I guess we're on about computer-based RPGs here and not tabletop ones.

My fave series of RPG games in the whole wide world is Baldur's Gate 1 & 2. The other games that use the Bioware Infinity Engine are also pretty cool too - Icewind Dale and Planescape Torment.

Console-wise i've not played an RPG is a long while. Secret of Mana was always a favourite on the SNES though.

I a huge console fan of anything square, but haven't had the time to play video games.

I wish I could play those.. I get headaches and dizziness from the first-person 3D world. Anyone else have that problem?

I don't get dizzy, but I know people who do.

I played CS from beta 3 to 1.1, I finally stopped because it was getting really lame with all the cheating going on. The game was cool before it went retail, after that happened things just went down hill.

I actually haven't played an RPG in sooooo long. Who has the time anymore? But I tell you what, I was weaned on the Final Fantasy series and have played and beten every single one through FF VIII (which was great graphics, but the worst game all round). I was looking at the PS2's upcoming release of the newest in the Dragon Warrior series...remember those classics? I loved Chronotrigger, never played Chrono Cross but wanted to, Xenogears. Those were all great too. Just wis I had time to play some of the new ones.

I've always had a problem with people calling those video games RPG, as they are not. RPG-based or RPG-derivative is closer.

There are RPG video games out there now: Asheron's Call, etal. where you do actually take on a role/personna. Those others are just characters with no actual role playing at all.

You must be talking the newer computer ones.

    Can't answer that.

But for the 'real' ones (how can you role play on a computer). I played Robotech, TMNT, ad&d every version ever though of.

As for the dizziness I had a friend back home who can't play them. Found he got motion sickness from 3d games

    finally, real RPGs.

I started with the old blue book D&D, and also played alot of Warhammer, Worlds Beyond, Gurps (many of the genres), Vampyre:TM (the early versions before it became 'the thing' for the goths), Shadowrun, and so many others I can't remember them. I still have a collection of about 100+ RPGs and books. Heck I have most of the first 150 issues of White Wolf. I should get them out and offer them on ebay. Probably worth a fortune now.

Mine are scattered around canada. Where I live now it is not exactly a past time so I haven't had a chance to play. ...I could never get into Goth games period. Even d&d's lame version of it. I found the gm's were to egotistical that ran those and didn't appreciate that they were running the game for the players not just themselves ...
