I'm currently looking to find a good forum solution that I can easily integrate into a site. However, it also needs to have the ability to view user profiles.

I'm not just looking for a url or two. I want to know how you got your community site to where it is now, what worked, what didn't work.

I put my website in more directories, used common key words and updated it constantly- to be upper in Google.

Another strategy to promote it..i made a Yahoo Messenger campaign, i talked to my friends to put at their status the link with my website or with a message and a URL to my website. If i would have had some money to finance the campaign i would have made a pyramid Yahoo Messenger campaign to go forward.

mostly webmasters get tired after a few moths
usually many of webmasters start community/forum when they see success to big forums like sitepoint and later on get tired if one webmaster get tired two webmasters plan to launch community so 50% increment but some time decrement went to more then 100%

i started my own community forum later on sold and the new owner run it for just few months and domain get dropped then as now i am checking it got dropped twice lolz
