setting up a server for a community

I'm trying to set up a small online community. And I need info on how-to and what programs I should use. I have the communities page templates but I don't know how to put it all together. Can anyone out there help me with this??? PLEASE ???

What exactly are you looking for? Discussion boards? Home Page Generators? Database Driven Site? All of the above? If you were a little more specific it would be more helpful.
