Site issue, works in FF but not IE

    Site is at:
    http://2xtreme.info/dev/goals.html

In the bottom area you'll notice the yellowish color expands like it's supposed to in Firefox. It does not, however, in IE. Oddly if I put a border around the DIV that has the background, it DOES expand properly. Wtf?

Good news is it works perfectly in IE 7. With IE 6 though, you'll probably be best off putting a one pixel border that's the same color as the content DIV around it.

The validator will pitch a fit, but in this case I think it's worth it.

Just make sure you serve the border only to IE 6 though.

The bad news (it's really not that bad) is that you have a character encoding mis-match. In other words, the character enocding you specify in your Web page is not matching the one sent by the HTTP headers.

Any idea why IE6 throws a fit over this?

I took your idea a bit and figured out that making the left area 174px instead of 180px caused IE to stop being stupid. The border idea caused a lot of other issues I had to fix and this seems to work just fine. I've posted the updated code. I really hate ie, just thought I'd say that.

Also, am I getting an encoding mismatch because the server is making it something else (I don't know anything about this).

    Thanks Dan for your help!

Lol, so it means you designed your site correctly, but IE sucks ? I wonder why it works on IE 7 and not 6?

Because Microsoft finally made (some of) the changes we (both developers and end users) had been demanding for years.
