    asp.net

so.... Im hearing a lots about this ASP.NET
I thought I would throw in my anti-micro$oft towel and give it a try. Now that i got a firm grasp on PHP, might as well move on to something bigger (and better??)

Ive looked around a lot for some good starters, but havnt been able to find anything of great value. Anyone know of any good tutorials out there? Preferably kinda like a project tutorial, like you work though it and come up with some kind of finished project??

    thanx

The tutorial that I keep telling myself I'll eventually read is here. Let me know if you find it helpful :-)

That tutorial would probably be great for learning ASP 3, but not so useful for ASP.NET .

I haven't yet found a good all-in-one tutorial to be honest. There are some excellent sample sites (which you can see all the source code for) at http://www.ibuyspy.com - they're well worth looking through for ideas. There are useful snippets etc. at http://www.gotdotnet.com and some good sections in http://www.dotnetjunkies.com and http://www.4guysfromrolla.com . However, I ended up buying a book to get the fundamentals down, and even then I haven't found anything that left me feeling totally confident; some things I'm still having to do through trial and error.

Sorry that isn't much use - if anyone else has found a good tutorial I'd actually be interested myself .

Try these ASP.NET directories (Tutorials section) :

    http://www.123aspx.com/

    http://www.411asp.net/

I hope those pointers are helpful.

There's a heap of sample articles that come with the default .NET installation...they have sample apps..have you looked at them?

    Hello

I've tried sorting through the tons of tutorials and stuff on the internet, but I've finally settled down on a book.

SAMS Teach Yourself ASP.Net in 21 DAYS

I've also purchased a book about ADO.NET (data access) in ASP.Net, which is also from SAMS.

These are both seriously good, and especially the "in 21 Days" title is extraordinary if you're starting ASP.Net from scratch. It assumes little or no previous knowledge of ASP.
