    Unknown Code

    I was going through some of my pgaes today with Web CEO and came across the following code:
    This is before the <head> tag
    <html xmlns:v="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40">

    This is just before the </head. tag
    <!--[if !mso]>
    <style>
    v\:* { behavior: url(#default#VML) }
    o\:* { behavior: url(#default#VML) }
    .shape { behavior: url(#default#VML) }
    </style>
    <![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]>
    <xml><o:shapedefaults v:ext="edit" spidmax="1027"/>
    </xml><![endif]-->

    It's commented out but what does it do? Im a novice making a website during his spare time at work for the boss, and I suspect it's some rubbish that Frontpage has generated but Ive not seen it on any other pages.

    Thoughts?

    It looks like a Microsoft conditional comment what adds some stuff for Microsoft Office applications.

    I suspect that this file was once saved in Word as a .html file. I did that once, and i found lots of weird code in my file that looks similair to yours.

    Only one way to find out. Just make sure you have a backup copy in case something does go wrong though.
