Hi Guys. I don't know much about the malipulation of images, but have some (of my) logos I want to re-size, colour, etc. The logos are in a vector format.
Any suggestions on which software I should use to do this? Is there any freeware out there, or should I pay for a professional package?
I haven't tested the free ones. You can always download a free trial and check which program you like most.
It's hard to say which is "best", same as with cars for example.
Illustrator is the industry standard, but there are many enthousiasts of for example CorelDraw or Freehand who'd gave you lots of arguments about these programs being better in at least several fields.

Hi -
No, GIMP's not great for vector work but I've
been using Inkscape for awhile and am pretty happy
with the results - can export as a .png for use in
web pages or to manipulate further in another program.
