I have on my website several links which point to a partner site. I would like a cgi script to log the clicks on links to the site.

    got any suggestions?

    cheers

well, if you first set the links to an intermediate page that was set to refresh using an http-equiv meta tag you could then use tracking software (or just look in your server logs) and see how many times the intermediate page was accessed.

You could also use a script the same way, link to a script that adds to a counter file in your directory and then sends the user to the site, but that would be more difficult, so dont make things hard for yourself.

sending the user to a page with a counter then refreshing it takes to long - I'm thinking more of the kind people use for banner tracking:

    a href="cgi-bin/links/links.cgi?linkid=1234"

    kind of thing

    hello,

You could also try http://www.cgi-resources.com, and if you really can't find one exactly for you, I probably could make one for you.

you mean like the one on hotmail when you read an email and click on a link in the email, anyone know what I mean?

it opens a new window with the link in the bottom half and a hotmail bar in the top half

Hey! I'm looking for something similar to this script exept... I'm looking for something that creates a top frame that will let you go back to the main page...

    for example ../cgi-bin/frameset.cgi?http://www.yahoo.com/

I've seen this on other sites, but could never find it my self at any pay/free CGI places.

    Thanks, Alex.

To track links check out LinkNLite.

For a dynamic frame generator check out FrameIt

For a list of Alternative scripts check out:
    Form or Link Based Redirection

If you can use ASP you can check out Dynamic Framesets

    I hope this helps some.
