I quite urgently need to find a good tracking service for my website http://www.hiphopmusic.co.uk/

I have spent countless hours trawling the web looking for a good one, but still to no avail. Obviously hitbox.com is great, but to have an invisible tracking service from them would cost me $60 a month !

I have also played around with near 35 Perl scripts for this, and none have been satisfactory.

I am looking for a tracker that tells me this :

    Hits
    Page Views
    Total (daily, weekly, monthly)
    Refferers (not essential)

    Thats it.

    Thanks for any help.

You had stated before that you used ASP in your page. You could easily build your own stats. Also who are you hosting with? If they don't provide live stat tracking then consider Innerhost.com. They have built in stat tracking on every account through LiveStats. You get every possible stat imaginable.

Can I see an example of the icon of thecounter.com placed on someone's website ? I have seen hitbox, sitemeter and extreme-dm. However, I've yet to see somebody's website with thecounter.com icon.

You probably haven't seen the icon of thecounter.com that is placed on their users' sites because there isn't one particular one...

Users can choose from a variety of things to display. They can display thecounter.com buttons, or just the number of hits to their site, or choose to display nothing at all (invisible icon) and everything is free.

Maybe that is why a lot of people have chosen to use thecounter.com : simply because they have good stats and they are completely free (even if you choose to display nothing at all).

Sorry.. there is another User in these forums whose name is James and his whole name is very similar to yours.

Check out www.getstats.com one of the first providers of website stats. They have existed since before HitBox arrived.

I strongly urge you NOT to use thecounter.com. Since internet.com took them over, their service has gone completely downhill. I now get referrals from sites like bingo.com and warez sites etc, when my site has been mixed up with someone elses, which also uses thecounter.com. They DID get their act together for a few days, but that was only when they installed two new servers, to help speed things up when pages loaded. I have no choice but to use them until I find a perl script similar to the one that you are looking for.

I havn't used ASP before - I dont know where you got that from. Thecounter.com is very poor - the code takes about 20 seconds to load, and it only tracks one page.

I spent approx. 4 hours last night again searching but to no avail. Easystat.net appeared to be good but is very difficult to install.

I just started using web-stat.com and I like it so far. They have some cool graphs that allow you to view progress over time.

I don't know if it will break down daily, weekly, and monthly data in an easy to view format - but its at least worth a look.

I have tried many different tracking programs including remote host ones like thecounter.com. I have found two that do exactly what I want.

    Nice graphs- small price

One file but requires extended logs
