regarding hardware interacted code in java project

hi to all,
well i m new to this site ,actually i got stuck in between my project which is in java actually it needs that my project would handle close circuit TV cameras for security purpose in a building ,so plz. suggest me is it possible to write a code which could do this in java or should i use native code.and start using JNI for tht..
plzz help me.
