    Ruby suitable for this?

I am looking to do a small pc game, involving minimalist graphics (basically just a GUI), the game being a sim. I want to provide users with the ability to play others over the net.

I was wondering if Ruby is a suitable choice for this kind of thing?

In the end it doesnt really matter as I am going to use Ruby either way, as I am using this small project as a way to pick up and learn the language.

Ruby can certainly do this but you have to use a graphics library in C (or other low level language) to make it fast. Try rubygame or choose one here:

You may want to look at flash for this type of work.

As much as i love ruby i wouldn't recommend you use it for this type of thing. But then again, i would really like to see someone do something completely different with ruby.
    Good luck.
