    Email Return Address

I have been stumped on how to do this. It's probably very obvious.

I have a domian name-based email: Stephanie@mydomian.com which redirects to my email with my ISP: phanie12@verizon.net. Now, when I reply to email sent to the domain name-based email, my return email address within the email itself displays my true email addy: phanie12@gte.net.

I have seen plenty of others emails that do not do this. You see the domain name-based email address no matter where you look within the email. So you never really know what address their email is redirecting to.

    How can I do this?

    Thanks much!

Ok, I know how to do this in outlook express, so if that's what you're using this is what you do....

    Select 'Tools' then 'Accounts'.

Under the 'Mail' tab you should see your email account. Select it and click on 'Properties'.

Under the 'General' tab, you will see 'User Information' with fields for:
    Name
    Organisation
    Email Address
    Reply Address

Just put your 'domain' email address in the 'Reply Address' field.

    You're welcome.

If anybody knows how to do this for other email apps, such as Eudora, can you post the details here please. Somebody, somewhere, is bound to want to know. Thank you.

Scratch that. IT didn't do quite what I wanted. When replying to an email that I have sent, it now automaituclly fills out the "To:" field with my domain name-based email addy but within the body of the email, it still says: [mailto:phanie12@verizon.net]

    Any other suggestions?

    Does anyone know?

I get email from people who do it everyday. Can be because they are all on their own server? Some of these are small businesses so I find it hard to believe.

Well, even for my personal site I have my own domain and an email address to go with it. Perhaps these people you get emails from aren't using a redirect service after all.

    Please explain.

I have my domain name and email addresses to go eith it also. Is this different from redirecting? If so, how does the email sent you@yourdomain.com get to you?

Purchasing my webspace also meant that I was entitled to pop3 email. So, email sent to me@mydomain.com goes to my host's server and I have my outlook express configured to access that server to pick up the mail.

Basically, you say that phanie12@verizon is your 'proper' email address, and you have any mail sent to you@yourdomain.com redirected (from the company you registered the domain with, I assume). Well, with me, there's no redirecting. me@mydomain.com is my 'proper' email address.

My guess is that these people who you think are using a redirect service actually have their email set up the same way as me.

Thank you Saz. Its crystal clear now. I had a very vague idea of what pop email accounts were about and I went too long w/o asking anyone b/c I figured "I should know this stuff!" and felt too stupid to ask, but I am glad I did. Got it all straightened out now. Thanks!

Under tools, accounts, make sure your on the mail tab, and click add->mail.

Follow the wizard. You can set up as many accounts as you wish, and set up filters as well, so mail from those accounts would go in seperate folders

    Is this what your asking?
