Mouseover for underlying elements not working in Mozilla/Firefox

Copy-n-paste the following html and check it in IE and firefox.

In IE, while hovering on the first TD, the alert specified is fired. But, the same is not firing firefox.
Is there anyway the make the same work in firefox also???

    Pls help.

    TIA
    Jay

The first table cell is being covered up by the absolutely positioned div so I'd rethink why it needs to be there.

    Tyssen:

In my scenario, the absolutely positioned div will be moving over the table.

Did you try it in IE, it works well! I want to achieve the same behavior in gecko browsers also. Is there anyway?
