    Zeal denied my submission

I went to Zeal.com, registered, passed the quiz and became a member. I then submitted my site, but they denied it and said it was commercial.

My question is should I pay the $149 to get listed in LookSmart? Is it worth it, or will my site eventually end up in their directory?

    No, you're wrong

Zeal accepts non-commercial sites, or sites that belong in a non-commercial category?

Does that mean the site cannot make money? No, what that means is that the site is mostly content, with maybe some advertising or affiliate links mixed in.

In cases where a site is advertising supported, technically the front page is considered commercial, but any page deeper within the site (ie directly to the content) is considered non-commercial and free to add. However this rule isn't always followed... and its the deep links that bring in traffic anyways.

Even an e-commerce site might get a page listing, if that page has alot of content on it.

So, it looks to me like your site got rejected because of that rule I mentioned above. I would suggest forgetting about your front page and trying to get individual articles on your site listing, you'll find that much easier.

Oh, and LookSmart can bring in a good deal of traffic, even if you only count MSN.

I thought you had an actual publication!

Your domain www.ironmagazine.com infers that. Maybe the editor at Zeal also got that impression. Your site is definately non-commercial, and yes you DO have content. Contact the editor that rejected your listing and explain this.

hmm...where's the hot bods section? That woman in B&W is looking all too dandy.
