unless you meant to ask about a php editor, you might want to ask this question in the html forum, not the php forum.

If you're looking for a text editor, PSPad would be perfect for you. Regardless of whether you just want to edit (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP...

If you're not too keen on syntax highlighting, then Win32Pad would be the alternative of choice.

If you are well versed in HTML-- the best free editor in my opinion, is a simple text editor-- NotePad Windows Platform and Vi or TextEdit on the Mac. Using the terminal-- Vi is not that simple, but it is what I use and I like it.

The best HTML tool shall be Dreamweaver, and if you want to use it without payment, just download a free trial version, and finish your web design before the trial expiration.

Haha, you can use this way to any charged softwares.

Emm, but for the case of maintainence, you'd better buy it. The best software worth the money.
