    Sounds good, and looks nice!

I'm interested in knowing if this book helps you learn slicing techniques with photoshop? I typically find articles and tutorials around the 'net incomplete.

IMO, Egor said it best in this post:

The first 3 sections of Chapter 8, Designing a Web Site, look like their along the lines of what I'm looking for:
    • Designing a Web Site using Photoshop
    • Experimenting with Different Layouts
    • Creating Web-Optimized Images from a Photoshop Site Mockup
Although there are plenty of tutorials for creating all types of images for the web on the 'net, I like the idea of having reference material closely available . If so, I'll definately grab this!

That is a placeholder cover which we distributed before the book was complete. I'll make sure the relevant people know about this.

I have a copy of this book, and while I haven't gotten all the way through it yet, I will say that this is one of the most beautifully printed books I've seen. Full color cover-to-cover. It's got some great stuff in it, for all levels, though I'd say that it will be most helpful for beginner to intermediate level users.

My favorite chapter: Advanced Photoshop Techniques, which goes over batch processes and actions.

mmj, can you give me an idea of what the video is about (something more specific than Seamless Photographic Backgrounds With Photoshop - that means very little to me), and how long it lasts.

    Cheers

A whole chapter about creating "shiny" buttons is a little excessive..

This is actually a great price for both copies. I have never purchased an SP book before and this might just be the first one!

Looks like I found the next SitePoint book I'm going to buy! I need some major help with my graphics. Trying to figure things out on my own isn't working very well for me.

It does look great. The thing with books is always the same though: there are often many things you know already, but if you find one important new instruction or idea, the book is worth every $ -- Datura

The buttons chapter is about more than just "shiny" buttons. The chapter actually shows how to create a whole range of different interface elements, and the techniques introduced can be applied to a lot of other elements.

But don't take my word for it, go see for yourself -- it's one of the chapters included in the sample PDF download...
I design beautiful, usable interfaces. Oh, and I wrote a kids' book.

Got the book. IT's great. I've been using Foreworks for a while now, and I felt I needed to switch to Photoshop. Books helping me a lot with getting the hang of Photoshop Basics.
