So does anyone know of any GOOD software out there that handles the above? I'm using DW2 right now so something comparable would be nice.
Also if anyone can recommend a good PHP book (something like the WROX series for ASP) i would REALLY like that
Thanks in advance!

I know homesite 4.5 (and 4.0) do colour coding for PHP code, 4.5 has all the newer tags in it. I have not seen a good book on PHP I have seen a bad book though and it is one to be ovoided as the author made some beginners mistakes - I will post the name when I can remember it.

Get Ultraedit or Textpad for editing, they are both great, but I do prefer Ultraedit.

Looks like I will have to buy another red book. Soon I'll have a whole bookcase full.

I just bought Professional PHP from Wrox last night (to see the other side--I am NOT a convert!
) and I'm about 1/8 of the way through. Already, it has proved to be an excellent guide and doesn't put down ASP!

You need to get ahold of PhpMyAdmin for your database work, it makes creation of database/tables etc... very easy!
Or there are some better ones out there as well, but are much harder to configure and require root access
Those may help as far as managing and backing up your MySQL.
