...Before I Use Impex

Hello,

I'm making the switch from SMF 1.0.7 to vBulletin for my active forum. I installed vbulletin last night. So before I put up the "closed" sign on the SMF forum, I'd like to know what I need to know about Impex.

Mostly, I'm curious how this is going to effect my members. I'd like to know what I'm in for so I can take care of my members best.

Fore example, I've read that all passwords will be lost with the Impex changeover. That sounds scary! How do I deal with that?

I glanced through the manual and didn't see anything that discussed these issues. If I overlooked this part in the manual, just let me know.

there might be issue's between password incryption

E.G if Vbulletin use md5 and SMF use SHA1 ( may not be the case but they are the best examples )

then you have a password problem.

if this is indeed the case, an email warning members their passwords will need to be reset , and provide the link to vbulletins reset password tool.

impex is a brilliant tool, took me from phpbb to vbulletin with no loss of information, does everything in steps and makes it very hard to screw up.

I just did my first practice run and everything went smoothly. Now that I've done it once, I bet I can go through the entire process in about 10 minutes.

You are right. Impex is one brilliant tool!
