you need to create an icon called favicon.ico and place it in your root directory.

i use microangelo to create my icons, but there are many other free programs out there...

    hi,

Upload the 16x16 colour icon to your website and call it favicon.ico. It is only supported in IE 5+ and when they add your site to their favourites.

I put that in my header and didn't notice a difference in the address bar.

One it points to your icon file. Two the icon only works when you bookmark the site in IE 5.0. If you previously bookmarked it you will have to delete the bookmark and start over for it to show up in the favorites list and the address bar.

    Go to Favicon.com.

Download the free trial program and set it up yourself, it's pretty easy.

There's also animations. I haven't checked it out yet, has anyone else?
Can you make the your icon move?

Don't get to crazy with the favicon cause it doesn't seem to work in IE 5.5...
