Craigslist for traffic generation - Does it work?

Recently I read an article about untapped linking strategies and one was the use of keyword dense Craigslist want ads.

I was wondering if anyone had tried this and if they had any success?

Are there any tricks to writing one? Can you place links in your post?

    Thanks!

Well, the first thing is, don't spam Craigslist. There are legit ways to post your url there, of course, but it really depends on what you're advertising. If you're a plumber, for example, you'd make a post in the services section, most likely under skill'd trade.

Any site which recieves alot of targeted traffic works for marketing just dont spam or they will eventually make changes to counter the incoming spam flood.

I've used CraigsList a few times and each time have not been very impressed with the amount of traffic or should I say lack of traffic.

The traffic that you would get from craigslist would be short-lived (a couple of days).
You have to keep posting to keep the traffic up. Unfortunately, that would cause the people who regularly visit craigslist to notice your numerous posts and flag your ads as spam.
So no, it is not worth it.

I tried making about 50 posts on there over a few days once and the ads got flagged and removed.

now I just post maybe 1 every week but I think 1 ad per day is actually not a bad idea.

Traffic is useless unless it converts. Craiglist traffic often doesn't. If you've got a decent, quality product to sell (and does anyone these days?) then you could probably get away with quietly advertising it on craigslist, and traffic would come, and it would convert.

I think it just depends on what you are selling. For the people that had success, what was it that you were marketing?

I have been using Craigslist and have been pretty impressed with the results. However, Do not over post ur URLs. U need to use the site very intelligently, if you want to generate traffic.
