    Please review my site...

    Hi All,

Can I have some comments/opinions on my site please...
    www.gregfindley.com

At present ThickBox (which is used for folio images) isn't working in FireFox (works fine in Internet Explorer) as I also have JS image rollovers, something I'm working on getting sorted.

But other than that issue should be working, all comments welcome

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
    @1024x768 in FF:

Your header image - the hand holding the pen looks distorted, like a mitt.

The "iDesign." in the header - I'm assuming it's a tag line and not part of the business name, right?

Your Logo and Brand Design page - I'd have images open in a standard page with header, navigation, footer etc.

givemeplain- thanks, and yes I will look into that, left it all one colour as wanted the portfolio images to really stand out over everything else. But will try a few options.

topher- the idesign is like a tagline, its just a banner area where I will place various promo banners for my site. The hand looks fine on my screen, anyone else see a Mitt?
And if you're using FF then ThickBox for the folio images won't be showing at present, try it in IE and thats the effect it will soon have in all broswers.

    Thanks for your comments

Design looks like a blog website, which is NOT the image you want.
Typical loading circle on print.html, not bad but looks like you downloaded it or something.
Also, NO SITEPOINT ON YOUR LINKS!!!!!!!

    apart from that its good

    Greg,
...try it in IE and thats the effect it will soon have in all broswers.
    OH! Yea. Got it.
The hand looks fine on my screen
What I meant by "mitt" was that it looks like he's wearing a baseball mitt and the result is more like The Hulk's hand. (I think silhouttes can be tricky, especially in subjects with some depth.)

I like its clean simple look too.

My only advice would be to put your 3 main bullet points above the main paragraph of text on your front page.

I often will not read that much text right off the bat. It needs to immediately grab me. Currently, I have to read too much before I understand what the site is about/for.

    • Cost effective website design
    • logo design
    • printed materials

Then followed by the longer explaination.

I like it other than the big black space, It could be used for some eye candy.

Very simple and clean design, which I like. Very reminiscent of Apple designed products, with the silhouette against a flat, bright color. The guys hand DOES look like a Hulk hand, now that it's been mentioned. Very easy to use, intuitive navigation.

The iDesign tagline is a little confusing (doesn't Apple own a copyright on that phrase? lol) because it's not obvious what it is... iDesign really does sound like an Apple product, an you might not want to confuse that.

"I Design." might be a better tagline.

The About, Testimonials, Resources, and Contact page seem a bit bland in comparison to the other pages... There isn't any imbellishment to those pages, which makes them less exciting (?)... I'm not sure what word I'm looking for, but it's probably not an issue anyway.

Overall, a very nice site. Well done.

Design is very, very nice, but you could pay more atention to SEO, write a description of your site into the title tag not just domain

I'd add in a :focus effect (and an active effect as IE can't manage focus) to match your hover effect along with your other link rules.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions everyone!

In response to posts about the 'idesign' banner, it was meant to be a bit of a light hearted take on the iPod adverts, with the silouhette figure, nothing more than that. With talk of Apple copyrights, etc think I may change this for something else!

(working my way through other suggestions now)
    Thanks again everyone

    Greg
