    Changing the status bar ??

    Hello.

    I have this affiliate link:

    Code:
    <script src=http://www.bluehost.com/src/js/Daveov236/CODE10/180x150/2.gif></script>

    And I want to only show "www.bluehost.com"
    in the status bar.

    Is that possible ?

    I was thinking I would use something like:

    onMouseover="window.status='www.bluehost.com' "

    But I dont know how to use it with this kind of script-link

    Thanks - anyone know ?

    You have a script tag that points to a gif? Why isn't it an img tag? You can use the onmouseover event with an img, but I'm not aware of that event being triggered by a script tag.

    You can only update the status bar like that if your visitors have lowered their browser security settings to allow it. Some browsers don't have a status bar visible on the screen and display status info some other way instead.

    Well the code is produced by bluehost - its their banner ad.

    So how do I change it to an img, still use that tracking, and change the status bar. ?

    Thanks

    That's an unusual way to do tracking. Their '.gif' is actually a strange way to generate a document.write command that spits out...an image? Here's what that <script> tag creates:
    Code:
    document.write('<a href=http://www.bluehost.com/track/Daveov236/CODE10 target=_top><img border=0 src=http://img.bluehost.com/180x150/2.gif></a>');
    I wonder if your tracking would be different if you just wrote out the anchor/image yourself and attached the mouseover/mouseout events to that instead...would it still do the advertising/tracking that you were looking for?
