mail() function vs SMTP authentication
I need to create a send email functionality on my website. I have searched that in PHP, I can either choose to use a built in mail() function or using SMTP authentication methods. But, I still don't understand what's the differences. Why should I choose one way over another?

Ok, Thanx And may I know how many emails on average are considered as too many for using mail()? (less than 10 or less than 50?)
