    ISO CD images in XP

hey anybody know how to extract Disc images (.iso files) with the integrated Windows XP Cd burning utility. If you can't, is there a decent FREEWARE Cd burning utility that is XP compatible?

Nope, the integrated WinXP cd burning software can't burn ISO's, nor can it view the contents of them. I recommend buying Nero, it really is an excellent package and the latest version is fully compatible with Windows XP. CloneCD is great for doing direct copies of CDs, I don't know if it can burn ISOs though. Sorry, I don't know the URLs for either product of the top of my head, but a quick search on Google will get the sites with you.

I already tried several products that were not explicitly XP compatible and they hosed my systema dn I had to use System restore. I'm not saying you're lying, but unless I see that it's for XP too, I'm not going to put it on. Thanks for the tip though. Actually Roxio's Easy CD Creator 5 has a 90 day trial and I just got done downlaoding it, so I'm going to give it a whirl. Thanks though.

There is a powertoy available to add .iso burning with Win XP's built in app.

You should be able to get it from here.

Ok, but you are missing out. I have it on my win xp pro right now and use it all the time. It's one of the most useful tools I have ever come across.

Nero Burning ROM is a whole lot better than ROxio too. From what I understand, you cant even run the retail version of roxio on windows xp. I tried it before and it wouldn't take, but that was back on RC2. I installed nero on xp pro and it works beautifully.

ISO Buster works perfectly fine on my Windows XP Pro. system. Not a hitch. Oh, you can get a trial download of Nero aswell .. and it really is superior to Easy CD Creator (a.k.a Easy Coaster Creater). And it handles ISO images just fine.

Appears both the link to the powertoy and the mirror are both down. I guess MS threw some weight around....unless you have it already downloaded and can email it to me?

No, they didn't. One of the links pointed to the @Home web space and y'all know what happened to @Home yesterday
The http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/i...sorecorder.htm is hosted of my corporate network and should be alive. The only catch is that there is limit - 10 concurrent connections. Keep trying
