Stop banning all the cool people. K, thanks.
Get Egor back
.

Which other cool people, besides Egor got banned in the last month? I'm not sure if you read what he wrote, but it wasn't really friendly.
(not that i would mind if he would come back)

We're not supposed to talk about banned people(why, I have no idea), which is why I won't mention names. Doesn't really matter because this thread will probably get closed anyway.

Egor's used up more than his fair share of chances, it's a safe bet that we won't see him back here again.

I wasn't gonna mention names but since an advisor did, I reckon I will.Originally Posted by petertdavis

Egor could of easily been a staff member if he had decided to put on his (fake) happy face like a lot of staff do.(for the record, Egor does not have anything to do with me posting this, I still actually talk to him seomtimes, and he might actually get pissed off that I'm even talking about it)
I think people who outright attack other members should be banned, but it seems that some(egor, jake4974) are getting banned because of their general lack of warmness and fuzziness(fakeness usually). I remember in the old days when 'advisors/team leaders' sometimes would totally rip into someone for no good reason(I'm sure I could actually pull up some from sketch, wayneluke, and aspen). I'm not condoning that stuff but
it would be a relief over the current atmosphere.

I'm with coo_t2 on this one.

Bottom line . . . SitePoint has changed. Not what it used to be.

I can't go into specifics, but it really appears to me that Egor wanted to get banned. I personally put in a lot of effort to keep Egor here, more than I've done for anyone else at Sitepoint, ever. Ultimately, if someone is out to get banned, they're going to eventually find a way to do it. It's very unfair to place the blame on the staff.

Well, if we are not allowed to talk about politics or religion could you also please not allow people to talk about their medical conditions. This is website forum for god's sake. I am tired of it.

I'm not _only_ talking about egor. I'm really not even talking about _just_ banning. Some of the thread closings are rediculous too.Originally Posted by petertdavis

What really prompted me to create this thread was the banning of jake4974 yesterday.

I rip into people for no good reason sometimes, though admittedly less than I used to. I've mellowed with age.Originally Posted by coo_t2

In a weird way, it's somewhat respectable. I respect all those guys I mentioned, and Wayne Luke is one of my all time favorite SP posters. I didn't mean anything bad towards those guys, if anything it was a compliment.Originally Posted by petertdavis

SitePoint does not ban people unless it is absolutely necessary. If we ban somebody, it will be because we don't ever want anything to do with them again. If we feel there is a chance that we could warn somebody and they would heed the warning, we'll continue to give them warnings. We would only ban an established member who had contributed a lot to the community if what they did was severe and they had ignored multiple warnings, and we felt they would continue to do what they did.
Usually when we ban somebody for severe and repeated guideline violations we remove evidence of what they did from public view, in order to uphold the standards of the forums and provide a pleasant community environment.
This means that often when somebody is banned, nobody else will know the true extent of what the banned member did. We feel it is unprofessional to discuss the nature of what they did publicly. The reasons for banning are private and the matter is between SitePoint and the ex-member only.
