One of my friends has a theory that the USA were no good at proper sports, so they invented their own. They were no good Rugby, so they gave everyone huge pads, a helmet and stopped the game everytime someone dropped the ball, and called it American Football (or football). They were no good at Hockey, so again, they gave everyone huge pads, a helmet and stuck them all on ice. Genius.

Sadly, the USA have either overtaken everyone at all sports, or they're catching up quickly.

Polymath, I believe the World Series is called so because it was named after a newspaper. I read that somewhere, it might be wrong.

That is so very untrue. There are plenty of sports America are crap at and will continue to be crap at . Most of there more famous sprinter's were doped up but never caught.

Drugs in professional sports is a plague that affects far more then America. To say America is the worst at it, but never gets caught is paranoia at best, and conspiracy theory at worst.

America is one of the best at nearly every sport. To deny that is to deny the stats that in every Olympic in recent memory the US has gotten more medals then any other country, and often more than the top 2 combined.
