    Keyword density

    How much of keyword density is allowed ?

    I think that 3 - 6 % is ok, I have keyword density for one keyword 6,5 %.

    Is this to high - what do you think ?

    I am assuming you mean 6.5%.
    Yahoo give the following guidelines:
    * Title - 15 to 20%
    * Body Text - 3%
    * Meta Tags 3%

    6.5% for body is a bit high if you go by these guidelines, but to be honest, I don't this it's that big of a deal. I wouldn't worry about it.

    I thought the allowed keyword density was different for each search engine. Google only allowing something like 2% for the body text, while others allowed a higher density. I think i would have made it a bit lower then the 6.5% just to be on the safe side.

    There is no generic "optimum keyword density". Think about it. A page that has just one word on it has a keyword density of 100%. If that word appears nowhere else on the internet, that page will rank #1. With a KD=100%!

    I usually try to go for readability first and keywords second. If keyword density was all that important, all those Enter here and landing pages with Read more would really mess up the serps.

    Hmmmm.... maybe that's why the SEs don't like Enter and Landing Pages?

    Just make sure everything flows smoothly when it is read. Thats the most important factor on density.

    Pages look fine, all this is readable - there is no keyword stuffing.

    My some other page where I have links to product reviews has one keyword that has keyword density of 8%.

    I think that good and positive keyword density can not effect bad on rankings, only keyword stuffing has bad effects.

    I would base your keyword density on that of competing websites. If they are at 2 - 3% for body text use that if they are at 5-6% use that. I know some sites like the myspace resource sites have body keyword densities of 10-12% for all the top 10 sites.

    The ONLY keyword density number u need to worry about is 0%. If you don't have kewyords then you're out to lunch. Otherwise, right good content for the end user, don't even bother looking at density (this assumes of course you right quality content to beginw with.)
