    My next game...!

    Its called:

    GeekWars

    lol

In the new year I am looking to launch my new and improved gaming site, but it won't be for just anyone...I am going to target professional and non-professional developers.

Someone will probably post a messege saying something like "its been done before", but no one knows me here. When I have an idea, it goes above and beyond the written idea.

    SO...

I wanted to see what people thought , Would you play it? What would you want prizes to be? Are you interested in the site development? etc.

Also do you have any ideas on the small competitions we could have?

    Thanks!

    well...

I will do it in ASP. Depending on the TYPE of round the person is playing; it will allow different options:
    - If they are doing a simple coding round then a coding window will be brought up.

    - If its a design round, then the person can either upload to the server, of its it a full design give a link.

Its gonna quite a bit of work for 1 person, but I will be able to manage it. I will do a write-up proposal, maybe even Jeremy will want to help, or dhtml

    lol...

lol @ umair, its ok I guess I am being a lil to vague.

Mark I will try to get some well respected developers in the judging seats. I am also thinking about doing open voting for each thing.

NOW the game will basically be battle of the geeks. As soon as you signup, you are partnered. You have your own mini-chat forum between your partner and you will know exactly who he is.

Now these two people battle over different projects, whoever has the best project wins the round.

I think it is basically a one on one competition. If I entered the coding section I would be pitted against another coder to test out skills. I suppose it would be based on clean form, speed etc...

Same would probably apply for designers. Its an interesting idea.

    But thats just a guess...

You could set it up to have the projects sold at the end of the competition. This would provide you with steady income and keep the site ad free. Although I suppose this would cause the legal terms to be kind of long and complicated...

    Good Luck!

    thanks...

Hhmmmmm...well I guess you could do that, but then you have legal problems if things go wrong. I was originally thinking of charging to play, but my plans have totally changed. Ads are a must in this case.

I can get easy companies to advertise. Which company would give up a chance to advertise to A TON of developers all at once. (I am looking to get over 10k registered, it would take a while but its worth it!)

    lol..

Well I will be SURE to advertse here on SitePoint...both on site and in newspapers. As its a GREAT investment. Over $9000 possible people. I have decided to complete this project later in the next year, I still have 3 major sites to complete/start.

One of the is a business-owning simulation ...I have a feeling people will love that one
