Dialup AOL on a LAN in Win98

My computer at work is on a LAN with two other PCs and a file server. There is one AOL account and is set up to use on my PC. Obviously, I want to use the AOL account for Web browsing in addition to email, but I cannot get Web browsing to survive a reboot.

I couldn't get AOL to get me to the Internet in any way except telnet. So I uninstalled AOL and then reinstalled it -- viola! I can browse and chat and everything else. When I reboot, however, my Internet capabilies are gone -- from IE within AOL and a Microsoft install of IE 5.5.

Now, there are TCP/IP adapters installed for the NIC card and AOL. The machine keeps trying to get to the Internet over the LAN instead of AOL.

So the question is: Is there a way that I can have the AOL TCP/IP adapter take precedence over the LAN, or do I just have to remove the TCP/IP LAN adapter?

IN tool-Internet Options- Connections select "Always dial a connection".

Another option would be to put AOL on another computer on the LAN, then browse the internet through the LAN using a router. That would also mean other comps on the LAN could use the 'net simultaneously as well.
