    1. make a layer containing a rectangle the size of your canvas

    2. In object palette select fill, pattern, choose pattern.

    3. If you want to make your own pattern, create a file with that pattern element, save it in fireworks > settings > patterns, then choose that file as in step 2.

New to design. Can anyone tell me how to create a textured background in Fireworks 3. The canvas color options seem limited.

This works great for the canvas area, but leaves borders when viewing in a WEB browser. The canvas appears to fill the entire web page (desirable) until you do something with it. Anyway around this?

I am not sure what you mean by this. Can you explain in a little more detail?

I'll try and explain.....with a couple of examples.

    1) Choosing a custom color for the canvas, if I view using a web browser the whole page is the same as the custom colour.

    2) Creating a new layer and sizing a rectangle to fill the canvas, then filling with another colour will show the canvas surrounded by white border when viewing in a web browser.

What I need to know is how to get rid of those borders so that the whole page in the browser is covered by my chosen background.

Maybe this is a Fireworks3 problem?

    Your help is appreciated...thanks

I have never encountered that problem. I'll send you one of my bg files, see if that helps...

    BTW, whats your email?
