Hello Isak, and welcome to SitePoint.

innerHTML is a non-standard property for DOM elements, supported by most mainstream browsers. It is used by some developers to change contents of an element, rather than using the proper DOM methods.

The <input> is used for various types of form controls: text boxes, password boxes, buttons (submit, reset, general), checkboxes, radio buttons, file upload controls and hidden data fields. The type attribute decides which type of control is generated.

(BTW, try to post questions in the appropriate forums, for a better chance of getting relevant replies. The innerHTML question should be in the JavaScript forum and the <input> question in the HTML and XHTML forum.)
