windows' sounds...

i want to have the default windows ding play when i click on a link on my webpage. i don't want the sound clip embedded on the webpage, but rather have it play off the client's computer.

is there any way, through javascript, to trigger this sort of event?

The default Windows 'ding' is different on some computers. My default 'ding' sounds like a 48-man orchestra, and would really annoy me if it played every time I clicked on your links. Also remember, some people don't use Windows - other operating systems exist, such as MacOS and Linux

My browser plays an annoying 'click' sound every time I click on a link. What's wrong with that? I use Win98 and IE5.

well, regardless or what os people use, i would like certain links (not all links ) to invoke the default ding sound.

is there any way to control os functions from within a web page?
